2: TELL US YOUR IDEA
3: HAVE A SUSTAINABLE BRAND
Faced with current environmental issues, our concern for the environment, global warming, and the end of natural resources is growing, which is why sustainable strategies are needed in the graphic design sector as well.
Nowadays, most of the brands do not have environmental and social responsibility and are exclusively focused on disposable products with a high environmental impact.
However, at the top of consumer trends is a commitment to sustainability. Consumers are not only focused on services, products, and prices but are increasingly looking for meaningful experiences (an example is represented by the "zero waste" movement).
On this basis, no entrepreneur should have an unsustainable brand and visual identity that causes him or her difficulties in conquering the market, strengthening their own reputation, and gaining the trust of consumers.
As a studio of architecture and graphic design in Portugal, specializing in sustainability and circular economy, we understand that true innovation in a graphic design project is measured by how well it applies sustainable solutions, explores alternative materials and techniques, and creates products that are efficient, impactful, and eco-friendly.
Thus, Residual studio can help you create your sustainable brand and an impactful and responsible visual identity that will allow you to improve your own brand communication, conquer the market, beat the competition, win consumer preference, and distinguish yourself for your environmental and social commitment.
Through Residual studio you can materialize your branding and visual identity work in a sustainable way, one that is responsible, inspired by nature, goes beyond aesthetics and has controlled costs.

Research for each new project
1. Choice of sustainable materials
The sustainable graphic design that we apply at Residual studio, involves the careful selection of materials and resources that have a lower environmental impact. The choice is made according to the needs of the project and may include the use of recycled paper, natural paper substitute for traditional paper, mineral paper, sustainable packaging, vegetable plastic, ecological stickers, bamboo, water-based inks, energy-saving printing options, etc.
We analyze this aspect very carefully in order to optimize the amount of paper to avoid waste in graphic design. Choosing standard sizes of each material also helps in this regard and in reducing the environmental impact.
3. Production and Finishing
We consider printing techniques that reduce waste, vegetable inks to reduce environmental impact, and binding techniques that avoid the use of heavy metal glues to add value to the graphic design product.
4. Waste Reduction
The sustainable graphic design we operate aims to minimize waste production during the process of creating sustainable brands. This can be done by optimizing the use of paper, avoiding unnecessary printing, and encouraging the use of digital media whenever possible. In addition, creating durable, timeless designs helps reduce the need for frequent updates.
5. Circular Economy
Residual studio is also concerned with the life cycle of the materials used. In graphic design, it is important to design graphic pieces that can be easily recycled or reused at the end of their useful life. This includes using colours and materials that do not hinder the recycling or reuse processes.
Beyond your personal benefits, a sustainable graphic design project will contribute to:
Preserving the planet that deserves to be respected and safeguarded for the common well-being and that of future generations.
To drive social change for positive and promote a more just and equitable society by educating on the subject of sustainability.
